HELP KIDS LIKE ME EXPERIENCE CAMP CONRAD CHINNOCK
Hi, I’m Kaylyn McFayden
On October 16, 2014, when I was just eleven years old, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). It brought many challenges, but it also opened the door to one of the most meaningful parts of my life – Camp Conrad Chinnock.
Now, eleven years later, I’m teaming up with Pro-Craft to raise funds so more kids living with T1D can experience the same place that gave me confidence, independence, and friends for life.
You may know Pro-Craft because you’ve worked with them, done business with them, or know someone who has. My grandparents, Tim and Sue McFayden, founded the company more than twenty years ago and my dad, Chris McFayden, now leads it as President and CEO. At Pro-Craft, working together, taking care of people, and building things that last matter as much as the projects themselves.
This partnership is about extending those values beyond construction sites and into the lives of young people who deserve support, community, and a place where they belong.
WHAT CAMP CONRAD CHINNOCK MEANS TO ME
Camp Conrad will always hold a special place in my heart. It wasn’t just a camp – it became my second home. Being a Type 1 Diabetic sometimes made me feel different, but at Camp Conrad I finally felt like I belonged. Everyone there understood what it was like and we supported each other through all of it—the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
I made memories that will stay with me forever—color runs, water days, twin days, and even special nights like prom and homecoming that made camp feel magical. Going to the lake to canoe with friends was always one of my favorite things. We laughed nonstop and made the best memories out on the water.
One of my favorite places at camp was the reptile house. I wasn’t a fan of bugs, but I always went in just so I could hold the snake. It became something I looked forward to. We also got to go gold mining, which added extra fun and excitement – every day brought something new.
And of course there were the camp store, the craft station, and the pool. The camp store was the best place to grab snacks or souvenirs. I could have spent hours at the craft station making bracelets and art projects. The pool was where we cooled off, played games, and just enjoyed being together under the sun.
One of the most unforgettable parts of Camp Conrad was Under the Stars Night. We hiked together, had dinner, told stories, and then fell asleep under the stars. It was peaceful and magical – one of those nights that made me realize how lucky I was to be surrounded by such amazing people and such a beautiful place.
Camp Conrad taught me to be confident, independent, and proud of who I am. It showed me that diabetes does not define me – it connects me to a community of people who understand and care. I will always be grateful for the laughter, love, and memories that Camp Conrad gave me.

WHY I’M RAISING FUNDS
This year marks my eleventh “Diaversary,” and I want to celebrate it by giving back to the place that helped shape who I am. Camp Conrad Chinnock changed my life and I want other kids with T1D to have that same experience.
Your donations will help fund camp scholarships, supplies, and programs so that every child who wants to attend gets the chance, no matter what their family’s financial situation is.
I’m proud to partner with Pro-Craft on this effort. The company my grandparents built and that my dad now leads has always stood for service, integrity, and community. With help from Pro-Craft employees, partners, and friends, we can extend that spirit beyond the jobsite and make a real difference for families living with T1D.
Thank you for helping me give back to a place that gave me so much.
With love and gratitude,
Kaylyn McFayden

CAN YOU HELP CHANGE THE STATISTICS?

STATISTICS
On average, 40,000+ people are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes every year.
FACTS
Type 1 Diabetes is caused by an autoimmune reaction where the body mistakenly attacks itself that results in destroying pancreas cells that produce insulin–a hormone that enables blood sugar to enter the body’s cells and become energy to be used by the body. Without insulin, blood sugar is unable to build up the bloodstream.
STRUGGLE OF DIABETES
There is currently no cure for T1D. Medical treatments cost about $237 billion on a national scale. Children with T1D endure regular blood sugar tests, shots, and adherence to strict dietary regulations, all while navigating feelings of stigmatization and isolation.
